Boquete is a beautiful place in the Chiriquí province of Panama. With its beautiful weather, richness in flora and fauna and the calmness in the surroundings, Boquete has become one of the most favorite tourist spots. A number of good hotels are available in Boquete that offer all sorts of facilities and entertainment to the guests. One of them is Hotel Los Establos, which gives beautiful views of the Baru volcano situated at the west of Boquete. It is spread in a big area of a coffee plantation and offers all kinds of luxury amenities to its guests. Isla Verde is one good place to stay when visiting Boquete. It gives the feel of a quiet and away from town place but actually it is just a quick, five minute walk from the town. There is a river running next to the garden at this gorgeous hotel and the view from nearly every angle is just beautiful!

Panamonte Inn and Spa is another one place in Boquete that was built more than 100 years ago. It has a lot beautiful gardens with orchids and lots of orange trees that add more beauty to the place. The food served here is of European style and they also plan river rafting, canopy rides, trekking, bird watching, and private visits to coffee farms or sightseeing tours for the guests. After these tours, there is a provision for relaxing by getting massages and using the facilities of the spa.

Boquete is only at 46 kms from David. From the Panamerican highway coming from Panama, you take a right turn where the new shopping center “El Terronal” is located (“Supermercado El Rey”, “Farmacias Arrocha”, etc.). Right in front is also the traditional supermarket from Chiriqui, “Super Baru”. The road is in perfect state and the landscape makes it a very pleasant trip. Before you get to downtown Boquete, you will find a lookout to the right, where you will be able to appreciate the gorgeous valley with the Caldera river in the middle. A “CEFATI” or tourism information center is located here. If you wish to stay here, there are plenty of alternatives and most relatively economycal. Here you can find a double room for B/.20.00 to B/.80.00 depending on the place.

It is important for people interested in purchasing Real Estate in Panama to know that the Law 34 as of November 9, 2005 granted an exoneration of the Real Estate Tax for a period of 20 years for new constructions whose construction permits are dated before September 1, 2006.

This tax exoneration applies for such constructions only if they are finished, registered at the Public Registry and with an occupation permit before August 31, 2007.

For properties with construction permits approved on and/or after September 1, 2006, the tax exemption will apply as follows:

1. For constructions and improvements of residential use:

a. Costs up to $100,000.00, 15-year exoneration.
b. Costs of more than $100,001.00 and up to $250,000.00, 10-year exoneration.
c. Costs of more than $250,001.00, 5-year exoneration.

2. Other improvements: buildings for the development of industrial, commercial and agro-industrial activities, among others).

(a) Any value, 10-year exoneration.

You must request a copy of the construction permit of your new property in order to verify if you are subject to receive the referred exonerations.
